The brand

Autre Riche is a Canadian, Montreal-based menswear and womenswear brand founded by Creative Director Alexandre Jacques. We design high-end revisited timeless pieces with modernized classical elements, with the intention of dressing this very curious man and woman (and all in between) who lives and exists, who navigates through an experimental way of living and that has a political, social, ethical, and environmental awareness and consciousness. Carefully considered textile textures and colours, juxtapositions between conventional and experimental garment constructions, analogies and contrasts of all kinds, permeate the brand’s design universe.

Season after season, we intend to provide a wardrobe that reflects the essence of a very spontaneous, contrasted yet balanced melange of clothings, and a rich blend of the refinement, the long-established & the avant-garde elements. All of that by translating under a visual render the crafts & the savoir-faire of all sorts from the past centuries, and incorporating them into the stylistic elements of our clothes and textiles. Pottery, woodworking, glassware, tapestries, handmade papers, hand weaving, photography, and architecture- just to name a few. Our garments are thought and developed with a cultivated fascination for tailoring, bespoke and impeccably made garments, and with a forward thinking way of doing it. We are aiming to redefine everyday wear through a superabundant blend of formal attire with extra casual dressing, comfortable and functional workwear silhouettes with sublime fabrics, all of that with an everyday life consideration and a lived-in render.

Throughout the seasons, we evolve some of the brand’s signature elements into our vestiaires. That goes from our unique zip fly cut-outs, our particular use of short zipper closures on jackets & blazers, specific visual references to bespoke, cut-outs of a contrasting materials, slightly larger shirts collars, hand-woven pieces, and more.

Sustainability

All of our shirts and blazers are made of deadstocks, sourced from Canadian warehouses who carry the most luxurious Italian fabrics from renowned mills such as Thomas Mason, Albini, Caccioppoli & Reda. Our selection of knitted pieces are made from organic cotton or Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certified fabrics. Hand-woven pieces such as ties, scarves and skirts are woven with organic cotton & linen threads.

We also conduct a rigorous research of local Canadian suppliers & manufacturers who have a valuable flexibility regarding the MOQ of fabrics and garments, which allows us to manufacture the exact quantity of pieces according to the demand and minimize waste of all kinds. We also make sure to choose partners who are as close as possible to each other to reduce the carbon footprint of each garment.

Our collections are entirely produced in Canada.
