Burning Candles

Spring-Summer 2023 Collection

From a world where burning candles are the only time unit, where your right eye is looking at the sunset while your left eye is looking a the moon rise, where mornings, afternoons and nights become chapters.

- The SS23 collection is a photo box sent to a friend that documents the story of a spring and summer spent in an otherworldly environment. Or maybe this collection was simply thought with a fantasized life in mind, imagined with a desire of slow living & escapism and seen through narrative eyes.

This season’s vestiaire was inspired by the awakening of nature, wind, humidity, salty hair & skin, days & nights, early 90’s cinematographic stills, elderly people, ceramics, remnants of ancient weavings and pictures of incredible photographer Karl Blossfeldt.

For SS23, we infused the essence of ceramic tiles of the 13th & 14th century into hand weaving techniques. We dived into ceramic tiles archives and translated their color pallets, motifs and reliefs into delicately hand woven ties, scarves and skirts on ancestral looms, featuring illusory and trippy patterns. They are the outcome of a precious collaboration with the weaver France Therrien, with whom we explored books published in the 50’s and then we altered the patterns with advanced computer softwares to finally arrive at these sublime creations.

This spring and summer, the Autre Riche client will be dressed in nostalgic waffle-knit longsleeve t-shirts adorned with delicate embroideries that symbolize the hand-painted motifs of Spanish tiles, together creating monochromatic pieces with subtle tints variations. Wide leg jeans with topstiched front creases and a silver thread embroidered back pocket, paired with a heavy weight and soft-touch organic cotton t-shirt with meaningful print. French terry sweatpants with exposed pocketing, elevated with a sophisticated linen tailored jacket inspired by denim jackets. Silk- linen blend checkered full-canvas construction blazer, using the highest standards of the classic craftsmanship, but with a short zipper, which shapes our hybridized version of a modern blazer, accompanied of an organic cotton and linen hand woven fringed tie, an equation between the patterns of classic silk ties and the rusticity of a knitted ties.
